GIVING BACK FOR THE HOLIDAYS: “Christmas Trees for a Cure”
The holidays are an important and special time for us here at Martin Landscape. It’s important to give back during the holidays and we want to do our part this year. Our special charity program this year will be the first annual “Christmas Trees for a Cure!” We are offering to pick up your old Christmas trees while our crews make their scheduled maintenance visit, and in return, we simply ask for a $5 minimum donation that will be given to the American Cancer Society.

On Monday, December 7 at 6:30 p.m. we will also be taking part in the annual “Festival of Trees” at the former Green Street Gym and current Lind Brown Center. The “Festival of Trees” also supported by Carolina Hospice and their great efforts. Christmas trees will be on display and decorated in different themes and then auctioned off to the public. All proceeds go toward the “Festival of Trees” efforts. We have taken part of this event for 3 years now and always enjoy putting together a great theme! We have joined the PLANET Organization! PLANET is the elite organization when it comes to landscaping certifications and training.
PLANET, the Professional Landcare Network, is an international association serving lawn care professionals, landscape management contractors, design/build/installation professional, and interior landscapers. PLANET provides its members with a good business foundation to help them evaluate, plan, and better manage their companies. Member firms have direct access to marketing tools, industry specific business publications, updates on legislative issues, and network opportunities that can assist them in becoming more profitable. PLANET develops and maintains active programs for approximately 3,500 member firms in the areas of business management, government affairs, public relations, technical assistance, safety and insurance, education, and interindustry relations with other facets of the green industry.
Members of our management team will begin to take classes and seminars in effort to become certified in their respectable roles at Martin Landscape. Winter Promotion: “The Super Holiday Visit”
Our first promotion for the holiday season will be the introduction of the “Super Holiday Visit.” These visits will consist of specialized visits in time for the holiday season. It’s always a pleasure being able to host company and welcoming them to your home for the holidays with your landscape in pristine order!
The holiday season always presents much difficulty when it comes to scheduling, especially when customers request visits and due to scheduling issues we aren’t able to make it in time. This year we want to change that and make things more accommodating for our customers. We want to make sure that we are always able to provide them with the service that they always need. With proper scheduling we can easily implement these visits into our daily schedule.
We will be entering the holiday season this month with Thanksgiving, followed by Christmas and New Years. For November we will be observing Thursday the 26th and Friday the 27th. For December we will be observing a half day on Christmas Eve, Thursday the 24th and Friday the 25th for Christmas day. Call today and schedule for your “Super Holiday Visit.” We ask that we do receive a couple weeks notice in order to properly and effectively schedule your property for the visit.
Visits can vary in degree from just a simple blowing of the porches and driveway up to a full service visit. A full service visit will be the cost of your “per visit” rate during the year. A lower scale visit will would be half of your “per visit” rate.

Start a New Trend and Try Zeon Zoysia Turf Grass!
Start a new trend in the lowcountry and have the newer brand of Zoysia turf installed, Zeon Zoysia. This particular brand of Zoysia turf like the other brands is a very hearty and lush brand of turf. This turf is capable of growing in both shady areas and areas that are abundant with sun light. During its growing season it provides a hearty green tint with a healthy, sturdyappearance. June Tips
-COMPLETE pruning of azaleas.
-Prune evergreens.
-Remove suckers from the trunks of Crape Myrtles.
-Weed bed areas and dead head annuals.
-Treat ant hills.
- Do not allow plants to wilt. If you see plants start to wilt, simply give them a little water. They may need a little assistance this time of year.
- Remember to limit irrigation run times to EARLY morning hours. Optimal watering times are typically 5AM. Earlier or later can cause your turf to be more suscpetible to fungus or pest infestation.

Monthly Tips for the month of May!
-Set Irrigation clocks to operate 2 times a week. Water in the early morning hours of roughly 5:00 AM to allow turf to thrive and grow during the optimal time.
-Now that azaleas have finished their seasonal bloom, it is safe to prune them back to a more maintainable height.
-Prepare mulch beds by cleaning out all winter leaf build up and call Martin Landscape, LLC to install an upgrade of mulch or pine straw.
